Vincent Roger-Machart, Membre du ComOp du CREDO est également intervenu le 23 mai 2022 à 14h30 :

  • Would OpenRAN pave the way for new x-haul operator?
Fibre is definitely the preferred solution for 5G base stations connection. With the development of OpenRAN, the segmentation Fronthaul / Midhaul / Backhaul becomes always more relevant. Investments in fibre networks will be so important that commercial operators might be willing to transfer part of their CAPEX investment into OPEX. Until now TowerCo were only interested in the management of sites and were not involved in the network vision. Today, some enlarge their scope and become with the backhauling management. Furthermore, fibre infrastructure wholesalers expect a lot from the opportunity to address the mobile market.
